On A Hill Far Away

Description:

Portrait of three wooden crosses on a hill, digitally manipulated/painted, highlighting a verse from the lyrics of a favorite old hymn.

<>

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suff’ring and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.
Refrain:
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.
Oh, that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.
In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.
To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I’ll share.

Ten Thousand Angels

Description:

Digitally textured and painted photograph of three crosses, with words that remind us of His great sacrifice.

He could have called ten thousand angels

They bound the hands of Jesus in the garden where he prayed
They led him thru the streets in shame
They spat upon the savior so pure and free from sin
They said, "crucify him: he's to blame

He could have called ten thousand angels
To destroy the world and set him free
He could have called ten thousand angels
But he died alone, for you and me

Upon his precious head they placed a crown of thorns
They laughed and said, "Behold the king"
They struck him and they cursed him and mocked his holy name
All alone he suffered everything

When they nailed him to the cross, his mother stood nearby,
He said, "Woman, behold thy son!"
He cried, "I thirst for water," but they gave him none to drink
Then the sinful work of man was done

To the howling mob he yielded: he did not for mercy cry
The cross of shame he took alone
And when he cried, "It’s finished," he gave himself to die
Salvation's wondrous plan was done

About Michelle:

Michelle Greene Wheeler's Romans12 Designs begins with her own basic photography. The pictures she takes are then manipulated/textured/stylized digitally, and then 'painted' using computer software. After all this, she then adds a verse from scripture, generally KJV, or other inspirational type saying. Michelle's prayer is that God is glorified first of all, then to uplift and share the gospel with others. At this phase, Michelle is still trying to get the word out, sharing with others, and praying about what direction God would have her go...
